Gene Oliver Humphrey was born October 9, 1928, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, a son to George Oliver and Isoline (nee Dodson) Humphrey. He died January 11, 2008, at his home in De Soto, Missouri, at the age of 79 years 3 months and 2 days. He married Margie Elizabeth Lucas on November 8, 1969, in Bonne Terre, Missouri. He is survived by his loving wife Margie Humphrey, four daughters: Marlene Clark, De Soto; Gail Richardson, Las Vegas, NV; Jane (Larry) Lewis, and Sharon Bowen, also of De Soto; a son, Gary (Ruth) Richardson of Festus; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by two brothers: Al Humphrey and Donald Humnphrey, one sister, Toledo Humphrey, and eight half-brothers and sisters. Gene served in the United States Navy and the United States Navy Reserves and was a member of VFW Post #1831, De Soto. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of De Soto.
