John Wallace “Gebe” Kite was born in Bliss on September 15, 1948 a son to Tharrell and Margaret (nee DeClue) Kite. He died at Mercy Hospital – Jefferson on January 17, 2022 at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife of 25 years Karen (nee Christopher) Kite, Festus; two children: Melissa (Kirk) Thebeau, De Soto and Elliot (Judy) Kite, South County; three step children: Brenda (Danny) Chotrow, Festus, Robert “Bobby” (Amy) Lowe, Wood River, IL and Jamie (James) Bell, St. Louis and their families; grandchildren: Caleb Canepari, Colin Canepari, Jack Kite, Annie Kite, Alex (Cheyenne) Chotrow, DJ Chotrow, Becca Chotrow, Chloe Chotrow, Sammy Lowe, Jackson Lowe, and McKayla Bell; great grandchildren: Presley, Nolan, Westley, Evie, and Elijah; two sisters: LaDonna Kite, Farmington, Debra Kite, Cadet and two brothers: Dennis Kite, Dennison, TX and Steve Kite, De Soto; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother David “Doc” Kite. “Gebe” was a graduate of St. Joachim School and served in the United States Army. He was a retired General Foreman at the De Soto Union Pacific Car Shops. He was a member of B.P.O.E. #689 and a volunteer at the De Soto Mo Pac Credit Union for 44 years. He enjoyed traveling, fantasy football, shooting pool, playing craps, making jelly and canning pickles. His favorite pastime was fishing. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Tanner Boynton Scholarship Fund or the De Soto Car Shop Adopt a Family.
