Thomas Lee “Tom” Burkett was born in St. Louis on February 9, 1935 a son to Samuel and Anna (nee Rogers) Burkett. He died on November 15, 2016 at his Hillsboro home at the age 81. He is survived by two daughters: Laurie (David) Getty, Hillsboro and Donna Burkett, De Soto; one son: William Scott (Monica) Burkett, Creve Couer; eleven grandchildren: Roxanne, Seldon, Tyler, Brittany, Jonathon, Carrie Ann, J.T., Jimmy, Danyelle, Stephanie, and Jacob; sixteen great-grandchildren: three brothers: Stanley Burkett, St. Ann; Samuel “Rip” Burkett, Florissant, and Charlie Burkett, Port St. Lucie, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Earlene (nee Armstrong) Burkett; one son: Thomas Lee Burkett, Jr.; one great-grandson: Hayden Getty; two sisters: Sis Soderblom and her husband Bob and Thelia Dilowski and her husband Ron; three brothers: Lloyd Burkett and his wife Barbara, Victor Burkett and his wife Virginia and Jerry Burkett; and two sisters-in-law: Pat Burkett and Daphne Burkett. After serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War he owned and operated his own home remodling/building company and later worked as a bus driver for Laidlaw Bus Company.
