Ellen A. Akins

Ellen Annette Akins was born on June 3, 1962 in Crystal City a daughter to James S. and Ellen Maxine (nee Haverstick) Acord. She died on October 30, 2024 at Marcy Hospital-Jefferson at the age of 62. She is survived by her husband Mark Akins, De Soto; two sons: James (Stephanie) Akins, De Soto and Jordan (Tamara) Akins, St. Charles; two grandchildren: Adilynn Grace and Kason with another on the way and two sisters: Michele (Tim) Ahlers, Festus and Marleisa (Gabe) Amsden, Festus. She was preceded in death by her parents. Ellen retired from the De Soto Public School District in 2014 after a teaching career that spanned 30 years. She had also taught at Sunrise and Athena Schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church-De Soto. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church-De Soto Building Fund.
