Charles Frederick Hoelzel was born in Melzo on April 16, 1930 a son to Helmuth “H.E.” and Maude (nee Holdman) Hoelzel. He died at his De Soto farm on May 2, 2023 at the age of 93. He is survived by four daughters: Margie (Doug) Urban, Ballwin, Marilyn (Don) Hamilton, Bowling Green, Joy (Scott) Graves, De Soto and Jan (Stan) Fauth, De Soto; his grandchildren: Matt (Liz) Byrde, Cara (Jason) Bergman, Dustin (Courtney) Hamilton, Andrew (Heather) Hamilton, Patrick (Casey) Graves, Sara (Luke) Adams, Bradley (Abby) Graves, Morgan Fauth and Grant (Emily Brewer) Fauth; great grandchildren: Lucy Bergman, Caroline Bergman, Ellen Byrde, Charlotte Byrde, Abby Adams, Lily Adams, Lena Graves and Micah Graves and one brother Lindell “Pete” (Jean) Hoelzel, De Soto. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 64 years Norma June (nee Viehman) Hoelzel and one brother Benno Hoelzel. Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of Carpenter’s Local #2214 and St. Andrews United Methodist Church.
