Opal Fay Johnston

Opal Fay Johnston was born in Crystal City on November 5, 1929 a daughter to Harry and Edna (nee Creason) Wright. She died at her Festus home on August 12, 2018 at the age of 88. She is survived by three children: Paul (Mona) Schrum, De Soto, Cheryl (Cindy) Arman, Affton, and Thomas Johnston, Festus; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one brother: Glen Wright, Festus. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles Junior Johnston; one granddaughter: Melanie Arman; two sisters: Lavern Saputo amd Alline Irwin; two brothers: Billy Wright and Teddy Wright; and a daughter-in-law Diane Johnston. Opal had retired as a cook for the De Soto Elks Lodge and Boodie’s Market and had also catered events at the De Soto Carmen’s Hall.
