Edward L. Pope was born in De Soto on May 6, 1944 a son to Mabel (nee Boyer) and George William Pope, Sr. He died in De Soto on July 13, 2018 at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife Joyce (nee Hauck) Pope. Ed and Joyce were married on December 2, 1967 in Dixon, MO. Also surviving is one daughter: Kim (Chad) Queen, De Soto; one son Michael (Deana) Pope, De Soto; and five grandchildren: Jake Queen, Jordan Queen, Sarah Queen, Masey Pope and Abby Pope. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother: George W. “Ben” Pope, Jr. Ed served in the United States Army and had retired from the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Fenton where he worked for over 30 years in the personnel department. He was a very active volunteer in the De Soto community. He helped found the Jefferson County YMCA and enjoyed playing golf.
