Vanita Mae Parker was born August 31, 1921 in De Soto, MO. She was the daughter of Arthur L. and Elsie Pearl (nee Sloan) Blake. She died on October 25, 2015 at The Woodland’s in Arnold, MO at the age of 94 years. She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Jay) Hicks, Imperial, MO and Connie Spicer, Lubbock, TX; two brothers, Vernon and Calvin Blake; one granddaughter, Ruth Ann (Gordon) Thornley; two great-grandchildren, Parker & Charlotte Thornley; one sister-in-law, Joy Blake. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Basil R. Parker;one brother, Glen H. Blake, and one son-in-law, Oliver Spicer. As an expression of sympathy memorials may be made to the Jefferson County Rescue Mission, 8943 Commercial Blvd, Pevely, MO 63070.
