Robert N. Walker was born October 5, 1922 in De Soto a son to Troy and Elsie (nee Bequette) Walker.  He died September 3, 2011 at the Crystal Oaks Skilled Nursing Center in Festus at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Margie (nee Bayer) Walker; one son: Robert Alan Walker, De Soto; three daughters: Renee’  (Paul Faulkner) Evans, De Soto, Darla (Joe) Finch, De Soto, Darlene Pizzo, Hillsboro; and one sister: Myrtle Hopson.  Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Lester “Piggy” Walker.  Mr. Walker served as a aviation machinist in the United States Navy during World War II.  He was retired as a brake press operator for the Missouri Pacific Railroad after  36 years of service.  A life member of AmVets Post #48 he was also a life long member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, and a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen.  Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Darlene Payne with interment with military honors to follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, De Soto.  As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
