Robert Louis “Bob” Armstrong was born in St. Louis on July 19, 1944 a son to Robert “Gene” and Betty Lou (nee Bechler) Armstrong. He died at his Hillsboro home on December 22, 2013 at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Sharon E. “Sherry” (nee Long) Armstrong; one daughter: Lisa (Jack) Young, De Soto; one brother: Steve (Renee) Armstrong and their son Alex, Fenton; and a honorary granddaughter: Sapphire Nguyen. He is preceded in death by his parents. He served in the 1035th Maintenance Company of the Missouri National Guard for thirteen years and was a member of AmVets Post #48 in De Soto where he served in their honor guard who posted colors at local parades and events. He worked as a sales representative, most recently for sheltered workshops in Jefferson, Washington, and St. Francios Counties. A 1962 graduate of Hillsboro High School he served his Hillsboro community as an Alderman and currently as a member of the Planning and Zoning Board, chairman of the Hillsboro Armed Forces Day, and a member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church. Rev. David Webster of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church will officiate the services. Entombment will be in the Four Seasons Mausoleum at Woodlawn Cemetery, De Soto. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Hillsboro Food Pantry, Hillsboro United Methodist Church Food Basket Program, or Relay for Life.
