Richard Joseph Filla was born Oct. 21, 1935 in St. Louis County, MO a son to Joseph and Josephine (nee Richt) Filla. He died at his rural De Soto home on Oct. 24, 2009 at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife Elaine (nee Neel) Filla; three children Angela (Gary) Nelson, Jeannie (Gary) Hernandez, and Vincent (Cindy) Filla; step children Mona (Gary) Graves, Cheryl (Kerry) Hindman, Bob (Patti) Thomure; three grandchildren, Matthew Hernandez, Brandon & Rheanna Zangeneh; 2 great grandchildren; also several step-grandchildren & step-great-grandchildren; and an aunt Jean Schmidt. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother John Anthony Filla, and a step daughter Denise Pippins. Mr. Filla was a veteran of the United States Navy, a member of VFW Post #3777, AMVets Post # 48, and an avid outdoorsman. He was retired from the United States Postal Service. The services will be officiated by Bruce Valle with interment to follow with military honors at the National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, MO
