My dad was a real cowboy for sure. He enjoyed teaching kids to respect and honor our flag and country. If there was anyone that would listen he would gladly tell them some highway patrol stories. Thank you for sharing these memories.

My sister had the Copenhavers as neighbors for a short time on South Main. You couldn't ask for better. He would tell us stories of his days on the Highway Patrol, it was great. They both enjoyed the antics of the kids including a time when two of my nieces were playing cars and the older one pretended to be a police officer and stopped her sister and gave her a ticket. He really got a kick out of that.

He marched all our kids outside for the raising of the flag ceremony and taught them to honor and respect our country and flag! It was beautiful! That's such a precious memory of Dick!

I'll always remember your daddy in his cowboy boots, hat, Levis, long sleeve shirts, and big belt buckles. I always thought to myself...."now there's a real cowboy"!

Thank you for sharing this sweet memory. My dad enjoyed seeing us have fun with the horses. You are a special friend and I treasure those times we had out around the corral.

Oh my gosh my favorite memory is us girls down in the corral. We get the horses all saddled up. We were young. I was little anyway and I was put on "Dean". Wasn't that his name. The most ginormous horse ever. We take off and the saddle slips and there I am hanging on for dear life, upside down, swinging in between the legs of this huge creature. There was Dick leaning against the fence laughing. I loved so much coming to your house Christine. The love and trust that flowed there was uplifting. A deep bow to both of your parents and the gift they were to all of those that they touched. I am grateful!
