Rex Ward Hanks, Jr. was born on July 27, 1941 in St. Louis a son to Della (nee Davidson) and Rex Ward Hanks, Sr. He died at his De Soto home on March 27, 2015 at the age of 73. A 1961 graduate of Cleveland High School he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon completion of his military service he worked for the Burlington-Northern Railroad until his retirement. He also enjoyed classic automobiles and was in several car clubs and a member of First Baptist Church-Arnold. He is survived by his children: Mandy Power and her fiance’ Scot Dietzler, De Soto, Melanie Evans, Maryland Heigths, and David (Mary Kingrey) Hanks, Kimberling City; five grandchildren: Bethany (Derek) Croghan, Thomas Power, Kaytlynn Williams, Cassandra Chandler, and Rebecca Cunningham; great-grandchildren: Alexis WIlliams, Mark Williams, and Carson Croghan; one brother: Bobby Hanks, Marble Hill; his former wife: Martha Dalton, Festus; a sister-in-law: Judy Fleetwood, Imperial; one niece and four nephews. The memorial service will be officiated by Roger Strange.
