Mahala Ellen “Rea” Land was born in Dent County, Missouri on January 21, 1924 a daughter to Thomas O. and Catherine Ellen “Ella” (nee Jones) Shelton. She died on August 7, 2015 at Mercy Hospital – Jefferson at the age of 91. She is survived by one daughter: Brenda (Ron) Reuss, Smithton, IL; five grandchildren: Cindy (Jerry) Hawn, Hillsboro, Wade (Theresa) Parker, Hillsboro, Carrie (Ben) Newenham, De Soto, Dalen (Paula) Parker, De Soto, and Brian (Carla) Reuss, Smithton, IL; six great-grandchildren: Cole (Katie) Parker, Jordan (Danielle) Hawn, Kayla Parker, Shawnee (fiance Gabe Mahn) Newenham, Brison Reuss, and Evelyn Reuss; four great-great-grandchildren: Levi Parker, Wyatt Moore, Hailee Hawn, and Garet Parker; a close church fried N. Fances Hite, members of the De Soto Church of Christ, and the staff and her friends at the Villa’s She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Wilgus William Land to whom she was married for 52 years prior to his passing in 1992; a daughter Shirley Parker and her husband Jerry; a great-grandson Brandon Hawn; a sister Cleone Nivens; and two brothers Allen Shelton and Bobby Shelton. Don Bahr will officiate the funeral service. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the De Soto Church of Christ.
