Phillis D. Bax was born in De Soto on March 2, 1951 a daughter to William Monroe and Lida Alberta “Bert” (nee Cobb) Voyles. She died on September 17, 2016 at her De Soto home at the age of 65. She is survived by her husband of 31 years Sonny Bax; two daughters: Christina Massey, Valles Mines and Michelle (Mikeal) Lashbrook, Evansville, IN; two step children: Paul (Diane) Bax, Independence, MO and Connie (Paul) Guthrie, Cadet; twelve grandchildren: Samantha, James, Brandon, Cody, Courtney, Cameron, Madison, Zachery, Megan, Gene, Alisha, and David; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Debra Owens, De Soto, Pat Pyatt, De Soto and Jean O’Harver Lucas, Hillsboro; and three brothers: Dan “Beaver” Voyles, Cedar Hill, Jerry “Beau” Voyles, Hillsboro, and Gary Voyles, St. Louis. She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Betty Voyles; and five brothers: Jim Voyles, William L. Voyles, Bill Gore, Dave Gore, and George Gore. She had worked for the De Soto Shoe Factory and Red Wing Shoe Factory in Potosi. She love watching the hummingbirds visit the feeders she tended at her home.
