Lillian Maude Lowry was the eldest daughter of J.J. and Lola B. (nee Green) Lowry.  Born March 3, 1930, on the family farm south of Hillsboro. She attended Hillsboro Schools then worked at the De Soto Shoe Factory.

On March 22, 1949, she married Thomas E. Mirgain.  They had two daughters. The family home was always in Hillsboro.  She was a clerk at the Hillsboro Post Office and served as officer-in-charge after Postmaster Leo Kidd retired.

She was a charter member of Modern Seekers, an Extension club.

A few years after the death of her first husband in 1980 she married Mel Sims of Hillsboro, who also predeceased her.  They helped establish Raintree Baptist Church after being long time members of the First Baptist Church of Hillsboro and First Baptist Church Festus Crystal City.

Mrs. Sims is survived by two daughters, Deborah Lee (Norman) Herren, Dixon, and Denise Lynn Lassing, Hillsboro, four grandchildren, Dawn (Jermey) Burns, Dixon, Lanette (Travis) Baker, Dixon, Sarah (Andrew) Brickler, Hillsboro, and Nathan Herren, Dixon; 12 great-grandchildren, Wyatt Shelton, Walker Shelton, Weston Shelton, Will Shelton, Camden Burns, Colton Baker, Caitlyn Baker, Koda Baker, and Hudson Herren, all of Dixon, Jaslynn Brickler, Jenna Brickler, and Jaycie Brickler, all of Hillsboro; three sisters, Doyne Wilson, De Soto, Blanche Maness, Old Mines, and Bonnie Thornton, Festus; sister-in-law Becky (Gary Black) Lowry, Hillsboro; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Tom Mirgain and Mel Sims, two brothers, Garland (the late Alice) Lowry, and Mel Lowry; a nephew Bill Bourbon; two nieces, Terry and Cheryl Lowry, a son-in-law Don Lassing, three brothers-in-law, Charlie Wilson, John Maness, and George Thornton.
