My deepest sympathy to the family of Jerry Nixon. Jay, my mother, Jean Dorshorst, who knew your father very well from his days at the Jefferson County Courthouse always spoke of him with great admiration. She came to know your dad while she was working in the Circuit Clerk's office and while a court reporter. May your father's love and smile go with you for all the days of your life.

My Mother took care of Jay, when he was a pre-schooler and Jerry used to come pick him up some days. I just remember him being such a friendly, sweet man and always had a smile on his face. Later, in a difficult time in my life, he protected me through a situation that was very scary for me. God bless you Jerry & bring comfort to your family. Carol (Lorenz) Strever

He was my next door neighbor and what a nice guy. I can remember him teaching jay how to cast a fly rod and hit the mark. God bless him and your family.

Mindy, Jay and Penny...I have fond memories of your parents - of them attending New Year's Eve parties in our basement, of Jerry playing poker with my dad, Paul and others. I remember one time when Bimel Wheelis showed up. Everyone was panicked that they were getting busted, but he was just there to play. Love to your family. Lynne Carroll Wickerham

A lot of great memories, playing basketball and football at the house!! Mindy,Jay and Penny, my thoughts are with you. Remember no one ever rally dies, as long as there is someone who remembers them, and I always will.

Jeremiah was a major player in a chapter of my life, while I lived in Jefferson County and later. He was a warm and gentle friend, a consultant, a mentor. A highlight of that time was a camping trip to the Quetico Boundary Waters, Canada, canoe area. The party included an Eagle Scout who was a great camper - and later became a great governor of Missouri. The best thing that I can say is that Jeremiah was my friend.

Mr. Nixon was my Scout Master, neighbor and friend. His entire family accepted me as a part of their extended family in De Soto. We went to school together, Jay and I became Eagle Scouts together and we had a great time with those in our neighborhood. It was an honor and privilege to have known Mr. Nixon. He helped define who I am now and his values were taught to my children.

I am so sorry for your families loss. I have many memories of time spent with the entire Nixon family, hanging out with Penny & riding Juliet in the backyard. Jerry & Betty were always so wonderful to all of kids hanging out at their home. God Bless you all at this time of mourning.

Mr. Nixon was an absolutely great guy. When I moved to DeSoto at age 11, and transferred into Troop 559 from Flat River, he greeted me the first night as if he had known me for years. He was a great teacher and a good example of what a scout could be, and seemed to have the energy of a man half his age, and the knowledge and wisdom of someone twice his years. He was one of the reasons, along with my grandfather, that I believe I have such a love of the outdoors and respect for others. May God be with Jay, Penny and the rest of the Nixon's at this time.
