I met Janet back in the 60's when her beauty shop was across the hall from my Dad's office [Dr. Watson] in the old Rehm building. She once said she wanted her shop to be as fun as Dad's workplace. And it was---because Janet was so much fun !! Later on her shop was located at the Jefferson Square mall---and it was always a fun place. Even if you didn't have an appointment, it was always a great place to visit, and have a laugh or two---which many did over the years. You were always welcome at Janet's. I also had the pleasure of working with Janet's mother, Helen, at the Community Drug Store---and she was a lot of fun too !! Janet was in my home for a get together in December of 2006, and I told the story of a special snowman in my home made by my friend, Terri when her Dad passed away. The snowman's hat and vest are made from her Dad's old Christmas vest---and it holds very special meaning to me. Not long after this evening Janet and Jimmy came by the house, and Janet brought me a ceramic potpourri dish that says : LIVE WELL, LAUGH OFTEN, LOVE MUCH, a motto that my family has adopted---and Janet knew that. When she gave it to me she said "Now when your friends and other guests come over, you can tell them about me and the potpourri dish". That made me cry, I was so touched---and I treasure the dish, and her friendshp very much.I will never forget her. Janet always had a hug and a kiss for everybody; she was very loving. She had such a good heart. She always had a smile, and a good attitude. I will miss her very much. Love you Janet, Donna & Pete Dawes

Jan has been a long-time family friend and one of the most upbeat, positive and jolly people I knew when I lived in DeSoto. I remember going to Jan's shop with my mom - Ethel Pratt, EVERY Friday night. I'd sit and read the National Geographic magazines and watch Jan coif my mom's fire engine red hair into a work of art. I used to ask Jan..."Where does grey hair come from and is it true that when you pluck one out, two more grow back in it's place?". Jan always laughed and said "Of course not JP...where did you ever hear that?". Well, at the ripe old age of 18 or so, I discovered a few grey hairs, and now, nearly 40 years old, I'm just as grey-headed as my mom - if not more. I will never forget Jan and her salon filled with the smell of perm solutions, cackling ladies getting their hair set, and the jolly nature of Jan herself. You will be greatly missed and your spirit will live on in all of those you met in your lifetime. My sincere condolences to Jan's family. John Pratt

With her ready wit and infectious laughter, Janet was always a joy to be around. Thinking of her brings a smile to my face. I can see her cheery grin, her animated eyes and expressive hands as she regaled us with side-splitting stories over family dinners. To know Janet was to laugh and be loved. I?ll miss her in the interim but look forward to a joyful family reunion in eternity. Pam & Dennis send long distance hugs and love to Gary & Carol, Cody & Carrie, Monica & Ted, Sherry & Bob, Brad & Tracy, and Jim and all their families as they remember Janet with joy and sadness. Sorry we can?t be there to convey our condolences in person.

My good friend Jan, I will miss so much. We had so much fun together. Once we went shopping in Farmington at Midnight 3 days before Christmas - Jan hadn't had time to get her Christmas shopping done and my husband Pat was coon hunting so we went together. I will never forget how much fun we had. She gave me a crochet Angel for my christmas tree, which I will forever treasure. She was such a caring person. I remember playing music and singing at her beauty shop. It was great - everyone joined in to sing and Jan just kept working and laughing all the while. I worked with Helen, Jan's mom at Community Drug, many years ago and she gave me her pie crust receipe which, by the way never fails. Helen too was a jewel, just like Jan. On the Monday before Jan left to go be with the Lord, we hugged, kissed and I cried. Jan said to me "It's ok, I know where I'm going". She said "it's been 46 years since I saw my Dad & now I will get to see him & my Mom." I love her like a sister and will miss her dearly.

My sincerest sympathy to Janet's family. She was a beautiful person and it was nice to have known her. Although we were not close friends, I never met her that she didn't have a smile on her face.

I don't know your family, but I recognize all the surnames as I do genealogy and my ancestors are Thebeau. I just wanted to say I am so sorry for the loss of Janet. I guess I can relate to her age, I'm 59, and I am assuming she had cancer and thank GOD I just had cancer on my kidney and part of the kidney was surgically removed. I am one of the lucky ones. Janet looked like a hairdresser and so was I. She had a beautiful smile and looked like a wonderful mother and grandmother. You are so lucky to have had her in your life as long as you did. God bless you and your family and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
