James Allen “Jim” Speidel was born in Festus on December 10, 1944 a son to Norman L. “Bud” and Bernice (nee Govero) Speidel. He died at his De Soto home on January 4, 2013 at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife Judy (nee Christopher) Speidel, De Soto; two sons: Chris (Dawn) Speidel, De Soto and Tim (Maria) Speidel, Hillsboro; three granchildren: Amber (her mother Michelle), and Saeley and Isaac Speidel; one sister Pam (Bill) Hart, Bonne Terre; three brothers: John Speidel, Belleview, Gary (Kathy) Speidel, De Soto, and Rick Speidel, Potosi; and his sisters-in-law Patty Howard, Leadwood, Joyce Christopher, De Soto, and Betty Creswell, Ironton: one brother-in-law Jim (Mildred “Mimi”) Christopher. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law Terry Howard and Dick Christopher. He retired from the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Fenton. He served as Chief Steward and Shop Chairman for U.A.W. Local 110. He and his wife enjoyed their family, especially their grandchildren and enjoyed camping and spending their winters in Destin, FL. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Down’s Syndrome Association of St. Louis. Patrick Singleton will officiate the services.
