James S. Acord was born in St. Louis on July 29, 1935. He died at his Hillsboro home on February 24, 2018 at the age of 82 He is survived by his wife Ellen Maxine (nee Haverstick) Acord, Hillsboro; three daughters: Ellen (Mark) Akins, De Soto, Michele (Tim) Ahlers, Hillsboro, and Marleisa (Gabe) Amsden, Crystal City; and six grandchildren: James (Stephanie) Akins, Jordan Akins, Cody Dierkes, Colin Dierkes, Preston Amsden, and Molly Amsden. He is preceded in death by his foster parents Rolla “Rohl” and Fay Byron and a son-in-law Dennis Dierkes. He served in the Missouri National Guard being one of his unit activated during the Berlin Crisis. He was a member of U.F.C.W #655 and worked as a grocer for 41 1/2 years at Kroger, National and Scnucks grocery stores. He was a faithful member and Deacon at the First Baptist Church-De Soto. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 2000 Grace Way, De Soto, MO 63020. Rev. Dr. Jeremy Muniz will officiate the funeral service.
