Homer “Jird” Rogers was born on January 23, 1928 in De Soto, MO. He was the son of Herbert J. Rogers & Bertha (nee Johnston) Rogers Zimmer. He died on November 17, 2017 at The Villa’s in De Soto, MO at the age of 89.
He was married to the late Eugenia Lee “Jean” (nee Sansoucie) Rogers; he is survived by his children, Phil (Betty Jo) Rogers of Ste. Genevieve, MO; John (Kathy) Rogers of De Soto, MO; Joan (Gary) Nash of Belton, MO; David (Karen) Rogers of De Soto, MO; and Jill (Jeff) Viehman of De Soto, MO; one brother, Raymond (the late Mary Lee) Rogers of De Soto, MO; 10 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one daughter, Phyllis Ann Rogers.
Homer was a custodian at the Hillsboro Public School District. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus St. Rose of Lima Council #1185. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard-Merchant Marine during WWII.
