Gerald Raymond Jung was born in Engleman Township, IL on April 10, 1938 a son to Xavier and Frances (nee Huff) Jung. He died on April 29, 2022 at Mercy Hospital Jefferson at the age of 84. After graduating High School Gerald proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Gerald had retired as a certified welder from Union Electric. He enjoyed restoring older agricultural tractors and doing woodworking and crafting projects with his wife to decorate their rural De Soto home. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local #148 and the Gateway 2 cylinder Club. He also volunteered with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department in the Victims Services Department and with AmVets Post #48 Color Guard posting and presenting the American Flag in parades and civic and community events. He is survived by two sons: Eric (Rachel) Jung, Festus and Kevin (Stacy Linderer) Jung, Ste. Genevieve; seven grandchildren: Christopher Jung, Matthew Jung, Keri (Travis) Essmyer, Mikah (Corey) Brackett, David Eads, Alyssa (Rodney) Edmundson and David Jung; a great grandchild Caroline Brackett with two more great grandchildren on the way; and one brother Donald (the late Phyllis) Jung, Mascoutah, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Winona (nee Cole) Jung; a sister Dorothy Sandheinrich and her husband Leonard and two brothers: Johnny Jung and Daniel Jung.
