Elmer C. Stephens was born September 17, 1927 in Ellsinore a son to Ernest and Effie (nee Cook) Stephens. He died August 23, 2014 at Baisch Nursing Center at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Shirley (nee Bradford) Stephens, De Soto; one daughter Connie (Al) Krizek, De Soto; one son: Terry (Martha) Stephens, De Soto; and two grandchildren: Mark (Jessica Rickmar) Stephens and Susan (Daniel) Ferrell. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Clete Stephens and Clifford Stephens. He retired from the United States Army after 21 years of service and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, De Soto. As an expression of sympathy memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
