Edward G. Shaffer was born may 20, 1931 in Bristol, Virginia a son to Charlie and Mary (nee Mercer) Shaffer. He died at Mercy Hospital Jefferson on January 5, 2014 at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife: Elsie (nee Radefer) Shaffer, Festus, one son: Anthony “Tony” (Debbie) Shaffer, Sullivan; five grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; one sister: Genevieve Shipley; one brother: Fred Shaffer; three half sisters: Shirley Skeens, Betty Branson, and Bytha Crunesberry; and two half brothers: Paul Shaffer, and Sylis Shaffer. He is preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother: Ruby Shaffer; and one son Randall Shaffer. He retired from Foster-Forbes Glass Plant and was a member of the United Glassworkers Local #30. Services will be private.
