Charles “Sonny” Backof was born September 29, 1927 in Ironton, MO. He was the son of Harry and Marie (nee Trunk) Backof. He died on January 28, 2015 at his residence in De Soto, MO at the age of 87 years. He is survived by his wife, Veronica “Bonnie” (nee Govero) Backof, De Soto, MO; two sons, Bruce (Paula) Backof, De Soto, MO and Dan Backof, De Soto, MO’ one brother, Bill Backof, Lake of the Ozarks, MO; one grandson, Dalton Backof. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Earline Backof. Sonny was a carman with the railroad and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus #1185 and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in De Soto, MO. He also enjoyed painting and gardening.
