Dear Fred and Jan, we know this is a rough time for you and our prayers and thoughts have been with you. We chatted with Brittany a bit on FB and she seemed to be a shining light. She has asked how we were all related and that's how we got acquainted with her. Her smile is the most beautiful and we love how she loved the animals. Rest in peace dear one and God be with you all. Uncle Jerry Messex and Mary

I had just hung out with Brittany the day before the accident. It feels unreal. She was my best friend & has been since high school. I keep hoping I'll wake up & there will be sweet texts from her. We were always there for each other & I wish I could've been there to protect her. I like to think if I was with her, she'd still be here. I miss you so much Brittany DeClue- Allen

there are no words to describe the loss of a love one , Brittney was Judy my sisters first granddaughter , the day she came into this world she had this beautiful smile and those beautiful big blue eyes she was such a joy to see , her first steps her first word was momma , she grew up to become a beautiful person with a kind heart for people . she was so young she was taken from us way to soon.. all we have are memories , you will be forever missed , gone but never forgotten .. rest in peace.

I had the privilege of knowing Brittany since I started my life at Grandview all the way back in 2006. We just talked a couple of times and hung out and before I knew it, we had formed a unique friendship unlike any other I've ever had. We shared so much in common and discussed deep secrets with each other that we dare not share with another soul. I trusted her with everything, and we did scratch every now and again, but in the end, we were still best friends. She was more than just a best friend to me. She was like the sister I never had. I loved her with all my heart. It sucked when she moved out of town cause I wouldn't see or talk to her as much, but yet after almost 10 years, she still makes an effort to remain within this friendship we had. This was the first and only legit friendship I ever had for the longest time. 10 years! That's a lifetime in my eyes, and that's what we will always have! I remember the last time I saw her, last September, her birthday was coming and I at the time was working at TGI Friday's in Bridgeton, MO. I invited her and Derek over for lunch and then since high school, I finally had a chance to see her and finally meet her hubby for the first time. I liked him, I thought he was super sweet and gentle man. I unfortunately only saw him once, but I enjoyed my time getting to meet him as well as see one of the truest friends after so long. I tried what I could to comfort her after what happened with Derek, of course I was pretty shocked that happened, but the last conversation we had via phone, she told me she put the whole puzzle together and figured out what caused Derek to do what he did. All I could was comfort her the best I could, and tried a couple of times to get her to come out and hang out with me so we could catch up and just relieve ourselves of the stresses we've had. But unfortunately, we were both pretty busy, but luckily we had Facebook and cell phones to keep in touch. When I first heard the news about what happened, I went on a full sobbing fit for the next like 2-3 days, and even to this day, it still shocks me that something like this happened to MY BEST FRIEND of all people!!! I just can't believe it! I wanted her to be my maid of honor if I were to marry someday, and God be willing I can make her godmother to my children, because I've known her longer than any other friend I've ever had, and she was fantastic with children! I knew undoubtedly I would trust her with my life, and for as long as I'm still here on earth, I will hold a special spot for her in my heart! At least now she can finally be reunited with her mom, as well as have a chance to meet my own! So, Britt, I love you with all my heart, and I hope you're enjoying your company with my mom as well as your own! Save my spot! I love you girl! Take it easy! XXX

I'm so sorry to all her family and loved ones. Some of us at Pilgrims Rest Baptist have been praying for Brittany's peace of mind and welfare for quite some time. She knew we care.
